MY COACHING PROCESS
SUPPORTIVE
I take a positive, solution-focused approach to help you gain clarity on your goals, values, and ideal vision of health and wellness. I guide you through self-discovery as you identify your true motivation to change. With warmth and compassion, I provide accountability and stay with you along the way as you uncover your inner wisdom and evolve into the best version of you.
BALANCED
Together, we explore the seven pillars of wellness - physical, emotional, intellectual, social, spiritual, environmental, and occupational - to determine what balance would look and feel like for you. I will meet you right where you are, discover an ideal version of balance and wellbeing unique to you, and determine a realistic next best step toward that vision.
EVIDENCE BASED
Based upon the principles of functional medicine from the Institute of Functional Medicine, my coaching services provide the educational foundation and simple step-by-step guidelines to create new food and lifestyle habits. QUESTIONS
WHAT IS HEALTH COACHING?
Health coaching is client-centered and tailored to your unique circumstances and goals. As a coach, I ask questions and listen with an attentive and caring ear to determine what you would like to achieve, draw and build upon your past success, your innate strengths that will support you, and more. Together, we determine attainable action plan to achieve your goals.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A HEALTH COACH?
Change is often difficult, even when it’s something we really want. Sometimes it even feels downright impossible or overwhelming. The benefit of health coaching is having someone in your corner to help you through it, and research shows it works. One study found that people who went through three months of health coaching significantly improved: blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, triglycerides, and body weight. A good health coach walks by your side, helps you break it all down, take it one step at a time, and keeps you accountable for lasting change.
HOW DOES HEALTH COACHING WORK?
The first step is to get in touch with me to book a Discovery Call. That's a complimentary 20 minute call where you can ask me anything about coaching, we can get to know each other a little, and you can decide whether my coaching is for you. I will tell you about the different packages and options in more detail as well as the pricing. From there, we'd book a Foundation session which is 75 minutes. Following sessions are 30-45 minutes based on your preference.
WHAT IS FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE?
Functional Medicine is an individualized, science-based approach to healthcare that looks beyond symptom resolution to identify why illness occurs and address those root causes to restore health. While conventional medicine focuses on using medication to reduce symptoms, Functional Medicine empowers patients, coaches and practitioners to work together to resolve the complex underlying causes of disease and promote optimal wellness through diet and lifestyle change.
Research shows that healthy lifestyle behaviors play a huge role in positive health outcomes. As a functional medicine health coach, I am not a practitioner and therefore, cannot tell you what to do (unless you are working with a practitioner). I guide behavior change using a “functional approach”, toward optimizing function in five key lifestyle pillars that contribute to creating health and resiliency: food, movement, sleep, stress management, connection.
IS A HEALTH COACH A THERAPIST?
No. Simply put, a health coach helps you look forward, a therapist helps you look backward. There is a wonderful time and place for both! Therapists help clients see and break patterns of behavior that are no longer serving them. A health coach helps clients tap into their innate strengths and guidance to make lasting changes moving forward.
Frankly, I love to work with people that are currently also working with a therapist! An example would be someone that would like to lose weight. A therapist can help a client work with old patterns that got a client to their current place. As a coach, I can work with a client to create a plan that is tangible and realistic for lasting weight loss and overall health and wellbeing.
